A Swiss builder had an old building from the turn of the century digitized for a renovation project. The goal was to create a precise BIM model for planning – quickly, accurately, and without tying up internal modeling capacities. The result: a final Archicad model in LOD 300.

Challenge

The architecture team faced a tight schedule – and no useful existing documents. The client demanded a quick, precise solution to immediately start planning – without utilizing their own capacity for modeling.

Solution

Points2BIM initially generated an automated base model at LOD 200 from an e57 point cloud. After only four hours of computing time, this model was jointly reviewed in an online review and coordinated for further processing. Within three days, a detailed Archicad model (LOD 300) was created, including precise detailing of roof structures, windows, stairs, and columns.

Result

The final model enabled a seamless transition into the design and execution planning. The accuracy was below 2 cm. Through early coordination and automation, the planning team gained valuable time and relieved internal resources – without compromising on quality.
