Duration
48 h until LOD 200 model
Challenge
For a renovation project, an existing 8,000 m² building was to be accurately captured as a BIM model – and this in the shortest possible time. The goal was to coordinate all trades on a common data basis and to support all stakeholders with a single point cloud as well as a consistent model.
Solution
For the proof of concept, the building was digitally captured via point cloud. Within 48 hours, a basic model (LOD 200) was automatically generated from it. The model represented all relevant structures and was made available for further processing by the planners. Particular attention was paid to the consistent structuring of the information and its adaptation to project-related requirements.
Result
The goal of the model was to simplify planning and coordination processes. A basic model was created in the shortest possible time. Moreover, especially a hybrid approach using point cloud and model provided significant advantages – construction meetings and site inspections could be conducted more quickly and efficiently based on the point cloud.
